…Out of a Morass, Pavilion (2015)

Collaborative project by Giles Bailey and The Follies of Youth, a network of emerging artists and curators who contribute to Pavilion's programme. Starting from an interest in the painterly influences that shaped the vision of 18th century landscape architect Lancelot “Capability” Brown, we began to experiment with alternative readings of his legacy and the influence of culture on our own visions of landscape. To study these we conducted a series of experimental research exercises, using writing and performance to construct an image of our own “lost garden” that wove together these various speculative results. The resulting installation was hosted by The Hepworth Wakefield
